Celebrating Lunar New Year

Celebrating Lunar New Year

We are excited to highlight recent celebrations and activities that have taken place at school! Last month, we welcomed the New York Chinese Cultural Center for a live performance of traditional Chinese dances featuring red scarves and chopsticks to create rhythm. Not only were our young learners entertained but also deeply immersed in the rich cultural heritage of Lunar New Year. Along with dancing, we learned how to say hello, bravo, and happy new year in Chinese! A big thank you to our family sponsors for keeping the tradition alive of supporting cultural guests to share their experiences with our students. Your support means a lot!

In January, parents joined us in classrooms to share their own Lunar New Year traditions and teach the children about what makes Lunar New Year different from the New Year celebrations in America. Our parent visitors have read Lunar New Year books, taught us how to make dumplings, performed traditional music and shared red envelopes which bring good luck and prosperity!
