Faculty and Staff Welcome Day 2023

Last week, Faculty and Staff gathered for the start of the 48th school year at The Washington Market School! We are eager to begin the new year, and thrilled to have everyone back to welcome all of our young learners in the coming days.

Feelings of first day excitement and jitters were present, along with yummy breakfast and rich conversation about the upcoming school year. We reflected on and shared the thoughtful work done by teaching teams and staff over the summer. Old and new faces shared enthusiasm for the upcoming year by discussing hopes and curiosities of what lies ahead. 

Prior to meeting as the larger group, we welcomed “Cohort ‘23,” the incoming faculty and staff members of the 23-24 school year. This new tradition enabled us to introduce the new members of our team to the rich history of WMS, our values, culture and the teaching practices that we strive to embody. It was a meaningful and special moment that allowed the sometimes overwhelming sense of newness not to feel so big. We are thrilled to have Cohort '23 as part of our school community, and we can't wait to see them grow and thrive over this year.
