The WMS Street Fair
A beloved Tribeca tradition open to the entire neighborhood.

The Washington Market School Street Fair has been a cornerstone of the neighborhood for decades—a lively annual tradition that brings together families from Tribeca, Lower Manhattan, and beyond. Open to the entire community, the fair transforms Duane Street into a bustling block party filled with hands-on crafts, games, food, and activities designed with young children in mind. Magicians, live music, face painting, and inflatable slides add to the energy of the day, creating an atmosphere that feels both festive and distinctly WMS.
Time Capsule
Did you know the very first Washington Market School Street Fair took place in 1986?
Explore our archive of posters from every era of the fair—snapshots of how the event, and the school, have grown alongside the Tribeca community. Each poster is a small piece of school history, and a reminder of how long the Street Fair has been part of Tribeca life.

WMS Alumni
One of the many joys of the day is seeing WMS alumni return—now taller, older, and full of memories. Their visits bring a sense of continuity to the Street Fair and speak to the strong roots the school has built in Tribeca over the decades.
Thank you volunteers!
The success of The WMS Street Fair is made possible by our incredible volunteers. We’re so grateful to the volunteers—parents, caregivers, alumni, local businesses, and friends—who help build, run, and reimagine the Street Fair every year. It simply wouldn’t happen without you.
