Exmissions

In preparation for application season, we hold individual meetings with parents to guide them towards identifying an initial list of schools for their child. The child’s unique strengths and interests, as well as geographic, philosophical, religious, and other factors guide our conversation. This initial meeting is instrumental in helping our families to not only develop a preliminary school list that maximizes their chances of finding the right ongoing school match for them but also to ensure that the process itself is well-organized and manageable. Parents will walk away from this first meeting with a customizable tool to help parents stay on top of everything from application to notification.

Our exmissions team helps each family navigate the application process for ongoing schools by providing information and insight on scheduling tours and interviews as well guidance around preparing for the “playgroups” in a way that is truly centered on each individual child. Along the way, our team will answer any questions that arise and provide guidance to help make the application process as seamless as possible.

In mid-fall, parents will have an opportunity to check in and discuss their thoughts on the schools they have visited to date. In partnership with our exmissions team, parents will reassess their school list, possibly adding and removing schools to increase their child’s chances of gaining acceptance into exceptional schools where their child will thrive. 

As the application deadline approaches, and ongoing schools complete their analysis of their applicant pool, they will often share helpful feedback with our team that can be useful in informing our winter strategy session. During this meeting, the exmissions team will reconvene with each individual family to reassess and strategize. At this time, parents may be encouraged to add or remove schools to their final list to bolster their child’s chances of being accepted into a school that is a just-right match. 

For children applying to ISAAGNY (Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York) schools, we develop a comprehensive, confidential report. With great care and attention from teachers, Site Directors, and Head of School, we produce detailed, written reports that thoughtfully and accurately represent your child.

The exmissions team will provide guidance on writing a meaningful and impactful parent statement, as well as any other school correspondence.

Once schools have sent out decisions, our exmissions team helps guide families in making their final choice. If additional considerations such as waitlists come into play, our team engages in thoughtful communication with ongoing school directors to better understand each situation, to advocate for every child, all the while maintaining an open line of communication with our parents.
